ManyChat is the default answer for Instagram DM automation, and for good reason — it is mature, well-documented and works. It is also priced for a market that is not India.

The pricing model problem, not the price
The issue is not that ManyChat is expensive in absolute terms. It is per-contact billing in USD.
Per-contact means your cost scales with how many people have ever entered your automation — permanently. Contacts accumulate. Revenue does not accumulate the same way.
For an Indian creator this compounds badly:
- Large audiences are normal, high monetisation per follower is not
- One viral reel can add thousands of contacts and zero rupees
- USD billing adds conversion plus card forex markup
- Your income is in INR, your cost is indexed to the dollar
So you can be paying enterprise-shaped costs on creator-shaped revenue. That is a model mismatch, not a rip-off.
What to actually compare
Price is the last filter. In order:
**1. Official API or not.** Does the tool use Meta's Graph API with proper OAuth? Tools using unofficial access put your account at risk, and no price makes that worthwhile. See what happened to browser-based LinkedIn tools in 2026 for how that ends.
2. Pricing model. Per-contact, per-send, or flat tier. For creators, flat tier or per-send almost always wins because contacts accumulate and revenue does not.
**3. Channel coverage.** Instagram only, or Instagram plus WhatsApp? For Indian creators WhatsApp matters disproportionately, because that is where buyers transact.
4. INR + UPI. Can you pay in rupees through UPI AutoPay, or are you eating forex every month?
The compliance filter nobody applies
Here is a test that eliminates risky tools fast: does it offer capabilities Meta does not support?
If a tool advertises DMing people who never interacted with you, or unlimited sends with no rate discussion, it is either using unofficial access or overpromising. Meta caps automated messaging at roughly 200 DMs per hour. Any tool built on the official API operates inside that. A tool claiming otherwise is telling you something important about its architecture.
Constraints in the product are evidence of compliance, not weakness.

Where StackPicks AutoDM fits
Being direct about what we are and are not:
We are: Instagram comment, story-reply and Live triggers through Meta's official API; WhatsApp Business in beta; INR pricing through Razorpay with UPI; flat plan tiers, not per-contact; built in India for Indian creators.
**We are not:** the most feature-complete tool on the market. ManyChat has years of flow-builder depth we do not match. We do not support TikTok yet — and TikTok's own API cannot do comment-to-DM anyway. We do not touch LinkedIn.
If you need complex multi-branch flows across many channels, ManyChat is genuinely the better product and you should use it.
If you are an Indian creator who wants comment-to-DM that works, priced in rupees, without a bill that grows every time a reel does numbers — that is the gap we built for.
How to actually evaluate
- List the channels you sell on today, not aspirationally
- Estimate contacts per month at your current reach
- Price each option at that number, converted to INR with forex
- Check each one uses official APIs before comparing anything else
Step 2 is where most people underestimate. Run it against your best month, not your average one — that is the month the bill arrives.
